Ignore the negative reviews!

I just received the Sullivan Family today and couldn't be happier. What a lovely little family for my daughter's dollhouse. This is a really good deal too. A single doll from another name brand company costs half of what this entire family did.
And now to address the ignorant reviews regarding these dolls not being caucasian enough...really??? I was sickened when I read these comments. The color of doll shouldn't matter in the least. I don't want my children to recognize color; I want them to recognize people as human beings.
And quite honestly, the dolls are only a tad darker than they appear online...if that really matters to you.

What gives? The family is darker than the picture shows.
Other reviews have pointed this out already but what is PBK's response?
Interesting that most of the reviews seem to be from light skinned Caucasians. Where are the reviews from the people that look like the Sullivans?

I have to say that I am shocked to read all of the negative reviews of the Sullivan family. We never even noticed that the doll people were darker than in the photo. My 3YO is just so happy to have a nice big family to live in her dollhouse. We picked this one because it has a dog--he is soft and super cute! Very happy with our choice.

No White Parents?

I was going to buy this family and noted not only the reviews but the look of the dolls. All of them. I love all dolls, but just as a darker skinned child wants a doll that looks like them so do white children with white parents. Too politically correct for me. I am dissapointed for the first time in Pottery Barn Kids!

Weird looking

These dolls were weird looking. They were much darker than how they appear, but my daughter wouldn't have cared. However, there were too many odd things that made me not want them. The father & son's hair were blue & painted on & the father looked like a priest in the black robe. In addition, the sizing didn't match the furniture & the adults wouldn't fit in the bathtub or some of the chairs. The clothes were not as cute as they look in the pictures. Something about the clothes & hair made them almost look Amish, but the mom looked Native American or Mexican & the dad looked Asian. Perfect if they were advertised as a multicultural family, but they weren't. In fact, Sullivan is an Irish name. I got a much cuter family from Melissa and Doug.

Not as pictured

I don't want this to sound in appropriate, however, this wooden set of dolls does not at all look as light skinned as the pictures portray. When I received it in the mail I came back online to double check and I was correct that the picture was totally different. After looking at other reviews, it seems everyone is having the same problem so I don't even think calling them and have them send me a new set will change anything.

I read the reviews on these dolls but ordered them anyway to go with the Westport Doll house we bought my three year old for her birthday. While they were correct and the skin tone was not as pictured (but as I expected based on the reviews) I was more disappointed that the boys head phones came detached and unraveled. For a toys geared to three and up they should be a bit more durable given I expect top quality from PB Kids.

The skin color is much darker than pictured.....my daughter will not care, but the advertisement should be more accurate. Also, the scale is not correct. The adult dolls do not fit into the chairs or bathtub. I expect better from Pottery Barn!

Very nice set of dolls. Well made and the little dog is a wonderful addition. The color of the faces was a little darker than the picture shows, but really, who cares? They're kids toys and the only people who make a fuss about that is the adults. My daughter loves it and could care less, and quite frankly, me too.

As the other reviewers stated the dolls are much darker than they appear in the picture. But they also seem to be different colors from each other. The parents are slightly dark skinned with the black hair, the daughter is more caucasian colored with blonde hair and the little boy is almost native american looking with the darkest skin of them all and different styled clothing. Very odd looking mix in real life. Do not look at all like a "related" family.

This family was a perfect addition to our 2 year old's new dollhouse (also PBK and also PERFECT!). The dolls are cute and durable enough. What's not so cute? All of the negative reviews I read about these dolls prior to purchasing. Hard to imagine someone would complain about them being "non-caucasian enough". Ridiculous. They're adorable dolls and are perfect for the imaginative play they're intended for.

I bought the Sullivan Family for my grand daughter. It looked perfect, online, to go with the doll house I was also purchasing her for Christmas. Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews until after the family arrived. I thought I had purchased the wrong family. The "skin" in very dark- not at all like what it appears to be online. I'm keeping it though. It's fine, just not what I expected- looking like my grand daughter and family, and the other choices would be even less similar.

I ordered this family for my granddaughter. The skintone is darker than pictured and doesn't reflect our family. Pottery Barn needs a Caucasion family, too! I am returning it. ages listed are for grandchildren.

Returned Stephenson family hoping that the Sullivan would be more like our family. Well, this is not a caucasion family either, like the other reviewers stated. It was worth the try I guess. Sending it back.

This family does not appear Caucasian. Potterybarn needs to offer a caucasian family option. The dolls are not cute and do not appear as pictured on the website.

The service from Pottery Barn Kids was great, but I am very disappointed in the appearance of the Sullivan family. They are MUCH darker and not as cute as they appear on the site. I am embarrassed to give them as a gift.

I bought the Sullivan Family because it reflected our family make-up - 2 parents, dog and 2 kids. However, on the website the family appears to be Caucasian. I would consider this family to be maybe more of Hispanic decent. We kept the family but I wish the coloring on the website were a truer reflection or there was a better description.

This dollhouse family was a great set and has held up well to the everyday use of children playing with them. My girls want to change their clothes so that could be something to add for them later to make them more realistic.
