A bit Disappointed!

The bookcase itself is fine, but we had one that we bought 3 years ago- same item- and this time the bookcase is shorter, not as wide, and is 3 shelves instead of 4, so it looks stupid together!

Nice piece of furniture

I bought this for my 8 year old son's bedroom. It is perfect for his sports trophies, books, and toys. I like the large shelves because they hold larger books and binders that he stores his baseball cards in. It was easy to assemble too. My husband put it together in about 15 minutes. It was expensive for a book shelf, but it looks much better than the pressed wood book cases that you get other places.

big shelves

I love this bookcase which goes with my son's other bookcase that is a slightly different style (Cameron) but the same color. It has big shelves; I can finally put his oversized books upright on a shelf! If you are expecting solid wood you will be disappointed but this is a very nice laminate that seems to hold up well and looks great. Dont expect it to last 50 years, but childhood is short.

Previously purchased several pieces of PBK
furniture for my grandchildren. This was not what I expected. The wood was chipped and dented in several places. Please do not waste your money on this piece.

Poor quality

Very dissapointed with the quality of this furniture. It dings and nicks so easily. One would think that if it is made for kidsroom that it would hold up well against kids' day to day use. This furniture gets dented even with the slightest rubbing of toys against it, forget banging! The edges especially are so badly worn out. I have bought the Catalina bed, nighstand, dresser, Thomas desk, hutch and bookcase and all of them are like that. I thought Pottery Barn would carry quality furniture considering the price you pay.

The bookcase looks nice but when we put it together the screws they sent us to go with the shelf went right through the wood!! now we have an awful hole through the side and we havent even used it yet! VERY cheap quality for the price. $400 should get you something way better than this. DO NOT BUY!!!

This bookcase was a snap to put together and beautifully constructed. The wood is solid and durable. My child can easily select items from all shelves with ease.

The finish is a more "distressed" or worn finish with nicks and dings. It is very heavy - the quality is outstanding - and putting it together is a snap....and it all comes so well packed !!! We are very happy with all our Thomas furniture (we also got the extra wide dresser, the twin bed and trundle, and nightstand ....read my reviews !) Yes, the price is a little steep, but I could not find anything to compare in quality, and I don't compromise in that department !!!!!!!!!! We will gladly purchase more items in the future !!!!!!!!

great bookcase

We own two of these. They are very well made and sturdy. They are secured to the wall and don't budge or break when my daughter tries to climb it to reach a higher shelf (obviously, not something I condone - but a testament to their durability).
I purchased them in white and wish I knew that the "style" has a more "worn" look on the edges, i.e. some raw wood shows in places on the edges - it's not a crisp white all over. I still would have purchased white, but it would have been nice to know that at the time of purchase so I didn't have to wonder if they were damaged during shipping.

A high quality piece

We are very pleased with this bookcase. It's very sturdy, and the finish is very nice - even on the back. I balked at the price at first, but I'm glad that we bought it. We'll get many, many years of use from it.

We purchased this bookcase for our son's room and we are extremely happy with it. It is sturdy, well-made and looks great. It holds a lot of books and has a great design. It was easy to assemble.
