Classic styling is updated with maximum function. Our rugged preschool backpack is designed with roomy pockets and heavy-duty zippers that keep essentials safe and secure. 9" wide x 4.5" deep x 11.5" high Fits children who are 36-42" tall. Made from rugged, water-resistant 600-denier polyester. Holds two small books, a sweater, small school supplies, e.g., crayons, a snack and a favorite small toy. Sized very small to be gentle on little backs, and perfect for toting a snack and an extra sweater. Detailed with reflective threads for safety. Adjustable straps are contoured and padded to ensure a comfortable fit; padded back panel adds extra cushioning. I am happy with the construction of the backpack. The only thing is that when I ordered for my grand children's birthdays ( a boy and a girl) there were no pink backpacks available for the girl and I had to order a light blue which doesn't look much for a girl. Just a couple of days after I received my order, all sorts of pink backpacks were available on line. To top it all off they were on sale at a better price than I paid. Overall, I have always been happy with all my PBK orders. It was just unfortunate that the timing was wrong on this order.

Shoddy Zipper Pulls

This bookbag is adorable. It is very small, but works perfectly for taking my 10 month old's bottles and blanket to daycare. However, the zipper pulls began to fray after one day. I had to use a lighter to seal the ends and prevent further fraying. Total bummer, but overall it's a good little bag.

Patch fell off

Patch fell off within 2 days of receiving this. I can sew it back on, but for what we paid for it, I didn't think that the quality would be so poor that I would have to.

Problems with Patch and Size

The size is extremely small. I deliberately checked the dimensions given and purchased this item based on that information, but it is incorrect. The outer height is only 10", outer depth is 4" and width at the widest point is almost 9" as they stated. I know 1.5" in height and .5" in depth is not a big difference, but when it is already so small based on PB's dimensions, it should not be any bit smaller. It is roughly the same size as my daughter's lunch bag. With that said, I think it will be ok for her three year old preschool class, but we will definitely have to buy a bigger one when she's four. Aside from the size, the patch is not sewn on, but glued, as another reviewer stated. Unfortunately, the patch was coming up on one side...even before ever using it. I contacted PB and they are sending a replacement. The woman I spoke with was very friendly. I have a feeling that this is a problem that is not going away with a replacement, though. I expected better from PB.

Best FIRST backpack

I bought this backpack for my daughter who is just starting pre-school and it's the perfect size for a 3 year old! Thanks PBK for addressing the younger kids!

Do NOT purchase backpack with/Applique

Just purchased the pink one with the seahorse applique for my 3 1/2 year old daughter to take to preschool. The seahorse looks like it is sewn on, but its NOT - it's glued!! She has only taken it to school 2 days and already the seahorse is peeling off. Would not recommend this to anyone!
