Penelope Shade & Madison Floor Base
Our slightly flared shade adds graceful flourish to our popular Madison lamp base, which lights up with just a touch. Cast of iron with a painted finish. Touch base offers three levels of brightness. UL-listed. Penelope Shade (sold separately) is cotton percale with polyester lining. All our shades are designed with an UNO fitter for securing shade to base.

touch turns on randomly

touch on will turn on randomly in middle of the night - while baby is sleeping in her crib. very annoying! also the white did not match the pb furniture i had

base no longer works after a year or two of use.

I purchased 4 touch base lamps for my daughters rooms. A year and a half later 2 of them no longer function properly. The touch option no longer works.
Also they are very sensitive. If there is a storm or surge of electricity the lamp automatically turns on. Very disruptive in the middle of the night.
I will never buy again.

these were exactly what my daughter wanted for the room and she's delighted with the quality - we ordered the green shade and white Payton floor base and the look is just what she was looking for

faulty switch mechanism

Our second madison floor lamp just broke after changing the light bulb, just like the first one did. PBK exchanged the first one for a duplicate, but I don't see the point in exchanging again, as the touch base switch mechanism is clearly faulty in the design. Too bad because we love the lamp in general and would get it with a regular switch.

I am sorry to say that we have purchased this lamp three times, and all three times there had been a problem with it's function. All had been within four months of time. I agree with one of the other reviewers, that having a switch on it would be more effective, rather than a poor quality touch lamp.

Cute but quit working

This lamp worked for about six months and then quit working altogether. I wish PB would make the same lamp (same style) but with an on/off switch instead of the faulty touch-lighting.

Touch on/off floor lamp

This lamp is pretty and sounds useful, and it was for a few weeks, and then it suddenly had a mind of its own and cannot now be controlled by touch. As others have said, it turns on and off when it wants to. I plan to return it, but am disappointed in the mal-function.

Turns on and off by itself

I was thrilled to find a touch base floor lamp for my nursery, but, it doesn't work. It turns on and off by itself. Can't risk that happening in the middle of the night. Returning it.

Very pretty but . . .

Pretty but because it is a touch base and does not have a switch it seems to turn on by itself! We have only had it a few weeks and it seems every day it comes on at some point. It is in a room that is closed so it's not possible that the dog bumped it or someone walking by set it off. It's too bad because it is such a pretty lamp but we will have to return it we don't want it turning on and waking up the baby in the middle of the night.
