I ordered this piece in Chestnut and it's absolutely beautiful. Great quality and very well made. The only negative thing is that the product becomes "over-priced" when the shipping AND service charges are added.

Really Nice chest

My oldest son needed a drawer chest that would fit his larger clothes. It works perfectly and totally matches the new bunk beds we bought from Pottery Barn kids. Classy furniture in a boys room

I purchased this dresser in red more than 8 years ago. It's been in three different bedrooms and used by 3 boys aging from 2 to 20.
It's one of the best pieces of furniture that I've ever purchased. It's still as sturdy and solid as the day it was delivered. It's been moved up and down two flights of stairs 3 different times and is no worse for the wear.
It has a few nicks where it's been pummeled by flying objects but otherwise the paint still looks as good as it did when purchased.
I've been satisfied with all the furniture that I've purchased from PB over the years but I'm highly, highly satisfied with the Kendall dresser.

Funny enough, I wrote a detailed review about the poor quality of the three Kendall Nightstands I acquired in an attempt to get a non-defective one, but it's now disappeared from the PBK website. :O
I've now had enough experience to write a review about the poor quality of the Kendall Drawer Chest.
The drawer pull knobs are made of a soft wood that disintegrates and the handles fall off with NORMAL use. PBK seems to have realized this because there is a metal sleeve inserted in each pull knob. The only problem is that when the wood disintegrates, the metal sleeve falls out.
If you buy the Kendall set in Chestnut, then for less than a hundred dollars more, you can replace all your pull knobs. Find someone selling the 1821 Katie Brown Collection Knob in Oil-Rubbed Bronze. It looks fab-u-lous, and you can salvage your PBK purchase and make it usable again.

Expresso Is Gorgeous!

This dresser is beautiful! We purchased the Expresso color about two years ago - spacious drawers - without taking too much floor space. Yes the wood is soft and yes it does have a few dings - my grandson has on occasion rode his bicycle or pushed a truck into it - they're not really noticeable. The dresser is very well made and and the color looks very rich - it is absolutely beautiful and I would definitely recommend this piece of furniture!

Great dresser

I got this dresser for my 11 year old son and both he and I love it. It fits all his clothes with room to spare and matches perfectly with his bookcases (also from Pottery Barn). What I particularly like most is that he won't outgrow it. It's his until he moves out of the house!!

Beautiful dresser/furniture!

This is a beautiful piece of furniture! We purchased it for our three year old son and expect to receive many years of good use from it. The quality is excellent, very sturdy and a beautiful finish. The drawer's are deep and will hold plenty. This collection is great for a young child's room, with it's distressed appearance there is no reason worry about bumps and bangs. I would definitely recommend this piece to a friend!

I bought this for my 3 year old who has the kendall bedroom (crib, nightstand, extrawide dresser with topper, twin over full bunk bed) and it matches the newer twin over full (purchased in 2010) and the nighstand better than the dresser (purchased in 2008). It has a LOT of room, so much that I use the bottom drawer for toy storage and the other drawers for clothing (I could probably use two of the bottom drawers for toys/books). I am really happy with how sturdy this is and it is great in the space!

We have owned the Kendall Collection (drawer chest, night table, & twin bed) for 4 years. I agree with some of the other reviews that yes, the wood is soft and very easy to scratch/gauge. It seems like our night table has had the most "damage" from matchbox cars being driven across the top.

We purchased this piece for our son's new big boy room. We are happy with the expresso color and finish. It is a heavy piece and very stable. I appreciated the fact that it came with wall anchors.

I love this chest! It matches the Kendall crib and Extra Wide dresser perfectly!!! The drawers glide smoothly and I have had no problems.

I purchased the dresser and twin bed for my son’s big boy room. It has been about 9 months and there are numerous nicks and scratches; as the wood is extremely soft. Two of the drawers stick. A knob came off and is now stripped and I am unable to purchase a replacement. One drawer is no longer functional as it is stuck shut. My son is only in his room to sleep and does not go into the drawers. All this damage has been from my daily use of pulling clothes out and putting them away.

"Fashionforward" has it right

I echo fashionforward's comments - after 15 months in our now 5-year-old boy's room, the wood is scratched and dented, and I can't tell you how many times I have had to pull clothes out from behind the drawers. Plus, one of the knobs is now stripped from the screw and came off. Was hoping to order a replacement here, but no luck (though it would probably be a red flag to potential buyers if they did sell those, right?).

cheap wood and bad design

I purchased the Kendall Drawer Chest and Extra Wide Dresser for my son 4 years ago. These dressers are not kid friendly. The wood is soft and scratches and dents easily. There are no boards to seperate each drawer so the clothes from the lower drawers get stuck behind the upper drawers and prevent them from closing. Although the design of the dresser is beautiful and classic these dressers will not last. I was very disappointed.

This dresser is absolutely perfect! The quality is great and we were so happy to have it delivered and already assembled. The delivery men took great care to make sure that it was placed where we wanted it as well. We has a piece of glass cut for the top so that whatever we put on there does not scratch it. Overall we are very happy with it and I love the top three drawers for the small stuff; socks, etc.

Nice piece of furniture, just a little pricey once S&H and delivery charges are added on top of the price. Otherwise, once I got over the initial cost, it really is a nice piece of furniture that I'm sure will last for years. Delivery and set up was quick and easy!

Buy this dresser while you can!

My husband and I are having our first baby this June and wanted to buy quality furniture that we knew would last through more than one baby. This piece is expensive, but definitely worth it. My husband is VERY picky about where and how we spend our money and even he is in love with the dresser.
High quality, solid wood, everywhere. Sturdy and built to last...I want this dresser for myself! We purchased in white along with other pieces from the Kendall collection. Crib and changing table, although can't rate yet considering they are still sitting boxed in our dining room waiting to be moved to nursery/former office in transition.
Seriously, you will not be dissapointed!

NOT Kid Friendly

I went to Pottery Barn hoping to purchase a bedroom set that would last my Son for years and was sadly mistaken. We purchased the Kendall chest and bed and both have scratched very badly in just 3 weeks. A few of the scratches are on the top of the dresser just from my finger nails. Maybe I received a lemon but I am not happy with the finish on this set. I am getting a new dresser and hopefully this one holds up better.
