These collectable-quality dolls have been made exclusively for us by Gotz, a doll manufacturer that traces its roots to the small village of Rodental in Bavaria, Germany. Since 1950, they've created dolls with superior quality and design and have been a favorite of doll lovers and collectors. 18" high Each of our dolls has long hair that can be washed, styled and brushed. Faces have blushed cheeks, life-like eyelashes and eyes that close. The dolls' arms and legs can be moved up and down. Each doll comes with outfits as shown. Choose from Ashleigh Doll (blonde), Marianne Doll (brunette), Megan Doll (red hair), Maya Doll (black hair) or Henry (brown hair). Sized to fit all of our doll outfits (sold separately). I think I might be more pleased than my 3 1/2 year old with "Ashley", and my little one loves her. Ashley's face is so cute, perfect hair with braids, and I can't get over the sweater. I would love a sweater that well-made! I also bought an additional outfit that my daughter really likes. The clothes are a little hard to get on and off by a 3 1/2 year old, but the practice and concentration it involves is good:) I would have loved to receive this doll as a child!

I purchased the Asleigh and Marianne dolls for my granddaughters for Christmas this year. I read the reviews and was impressed with the many positive reviews. I am pleased with the quality of the face, hair and body construction. The clothes are very cute BUT the jeans are too low fitting for the doll. When you sit the doll the pants slide down under their butt. The jeans are not a quality fit on either doll.

Sooooo much prettier than the AG dolls!

I've admired these dolls in the store and online for some time now. When there was a doll sale before Christmas I finally ordered one.
Ashleigh is so beautiful, facially. All the dolls in this Gotz line are, in fact. And the little outfits they come in are awfully sweet and wholesome.
These girls, made by the original AG manufacturer, are, in my opinion, about a million times more beautiful. The mouths on these dolls are very natural and lack the buck-tooth grin of the AG dolls, which to me is a huge plus. Also, the rooted hair versus the wig of the AG dolls is a plus as well.
One minor change I would make is that I would give these dolls a vinyl or plastic breast plate in lieu of the soft stuffed part of the doll beginning at the neck, so that the dolls aren't restricted to high neckline clothing to look their best, but we love and recommend them to anyone!

I had already bought a Gotz doll from amazon for my older daughter and my 2nd daughter loved her, so we decided to get Megan for her for Christmas! she was sooo happy, its just so pretty! Now they both have an AG doll and a Gotz doll, they love playing with them! I am very pleased with my purchase, specially because I paid $71.00 for her!
p.s. about the hair... just spray it with water and brush it with a metal brush and the frizz goes away, it gets smooth! ;-)

The Gotz dolls are beautiful! I bought the Meagan doll for my redheaded daughter. She's great quality, my only concern is the hair isn't as easy to "fix" after she brushed it as I had hoped. It is rooted, so should last a long long time and not pull out, though, so all in all a GREAT doll!

I did a lot of research before I bought this doll for my granddaughter. The doll itself is fine. Her face and hair are just what I expected. However, we are not pleased at all with the clothes she arrived in. The jeans are too small and don't stay up. The shoes are also too small and don't stay on. She is constantly asking someone to pull up the doll's jeans. It's embarassing to my 5-year old granddaughter that half her rear end is constantly showing. I expected better of Pottery Barn and I'm disappointed. I expect more from PB and especially when you pay the $$ for a premium doll. I called customer service and they said they would try to send a new pair of jeans. We'll see!

We purchased this very beautiful and well-made doll for Christmas for our grandaughter whose name is also Maya. She found her new best friend. Our grandaughter immediately wanted to change her clothes and put on new outfits. I will be purchasing more clothing for her new friend.

I purchased the red haired doll for my daughter for Christmas, and she was very excited. She said she loved the doll even more than the American Girls dolls she has received from her grandmother. The doll is also a great deal compared to the AG line. The doll arrived on time and was a wonderful Christmas surprise for her.

I ordered the Marianne Doll for my Granddaughter for Christmas. I love the doll and am very pleased with my purchase, however, I was surprised to find that the doll had a fabric body...especially when the description of the doll states that you can wash the doll's hair! The fact that the doll has a fabric body was not mentioned in the description of the doll. My only disappointment was the fact that almost all of the clothes that I ordered for the doll really don't fit very well.

I paid $71, and am pleased with the doll. Only complaint is that the hair came in braids, and once released it got pretty frizzy fast.
I wouldn't pay full price for it, but for the sale price, it is great.

beautiful alternative to AG

My daughter recieved the blond doll for christmas. She loves it. I love that it fits into all of sophie's old clothing (except shoes). Although the hair is brushable it looks like it is going to get tangled. I did not give it five stars because I really think corolle dolls are better, but they are hard to find. My daughter and I think this doll is prettier then the AG dolls.

My daughter got Ashley last year and wanted her to have a sister. She asked Santa for Megan this year and loves her. She plays with them non-stop now that she has two of them! When I got the box in the mail and opened it I was delighted. She is such a pretty doll. I recommend these dolls to everyone.

My 4.5 year old received Megan as a Christmas gift and she absolutely loves her. I think that the doll is beautiful and she seems very well made. The fact that her hair can be washed if necessary is a definite plus. All of the 18" doll clothes we have tried (most of which were handmade by crafters) fit her perfectly. I am very satisfied with this purchase and glad that we went with a Gotz doll rather than an AG doll.

I just received this doll in the mail, and it is beautiful. We have the American Girl doll, Bitty Twins, and Bitty Baby. Ashleigh is just as beautiful. She has such a sweet face. Plus, she does not have the strange teeth that the 18" American Girl dolls have. The clothes are adorable. The box is ok. I wish the packaging were a little nicer. I would highly recommend this doll. We are saving it for Christmas. I can't wait to see my daughter's face.

My 8 year old has wanted an American Doll for a few years now, but when she saw this one, she decided this was the one for her. The doll is very well constructed, and the hair is seeming to stand the test of time...so far... We are extremely pleased with this doll!!
