Great backpack for toddler!
April 25, 2013
I purchased the mini-backpack for my 21-month old son. It fits him perfectly and he loves it. Big enough to put some snacks and books in, but small enough that he can carry it easily. The personalization is great as well, because I can bring it to daycare and know that it won't get mixed up with any of the other children's things. Great purchase!

Skip the patch
February 25, 2013
I purchased the small back for my son who is in kindergarten. The football patch I ordered with it was not sewn on the backpack as I had expected. The backpack was too small! It couldn't even fit a regular folder (his daily school folder) so we sent it back. The large back pack came and it was a much better fit to hold school folders. It's a little big on him but he'll grow into it. I like the padding on the shoulder straps and lots of interior pockets. However, the pockets are so deep once you put something in there (like an extra pair of gloves for recess) good luck getting it out! Certainly not a skill my kindergartner has other than dumping his back pack upside down and shaking it. The football patch came and was ironed on somewhat. The second my son looked at it and touched the football patch it fell off!! Not what I had expected in the quality department for PB. Love the true red color.

Nice design poor quality. Save your money!!!
January 3, 2013
My 5 y.o. son received the rolling backpack with the matching lunch box as a Kindergarten gift. Within a month, the fabric around the pull out handle begun to tear off (mind you he only takes his lunch box and a composition book inside of it), and the thread from his monogramed name also became loose and look rugeddy! And just yesterday, the pole from the pull-out-handle completely broke off!! My son loves his backpack and he is very careful with it so I know it's not because he was rough with it; just POOR POOR quality. Needless to say, we feel highly disappointed! PBK definitely did not meet our expectations.

Nice backpack - horrible patch
December 27, 2012
I definitely expected more from a $40 backpack from Pottery Barn. I got it for my 5 year old son for Christmas. The name embroidery looks good and the backpack seems of good quality and durable but the patch is falling off before I even took it out of the box and it looks cheap. Definitely would not recommend for that reason. It should be embroidered or stitched. I'm so disappointed, this is the first review I have ever written.

Avoid the backpack patches!!!
December 18, 2012
I am *extremely* dissappointed with this purchase! I have a special needs child who happens to be a huge Superman fan. When the backpack arrived, the patch was already halfway detached, as it was merely ironed on! I don't think it would last a whole day before falling off. For the price, I had assumed it would be stitched on to the backpack - I should have checked the reviews first! The Superman patch was the whole reason I picked this backpack, I expected better quality from Pottery Barn.

Love the bag
December 7, 2012
This is a perfect size bag! The measurements for the small size I purchased are true to size. However extremely disappointed with the Pottery Barn embroidery of my sons name!! Not at all PBK quality, thread coming undone and crooked! One of the letters is too close to the other as well. Save your money and do it locally. PBK also sent me one without the patch even though I ordered one with an airplane patch. Shame, I love the bag though even with all that.

Great quality, durable fabric, lots of pockets and the side pockets fit a water bottle perfectly. Personalization looks great. My boys love their backpacks!

Excellent choice for little ones
November 13, 2012
I bought the small backback for my son (currently 2) about a year ago and I'm now returning to buy one for his little brother who is about to be one. We use this backpack for kids day out and it works perfectly for what I need. A change of clothes and a juice cup fit perfectly in it! We also use it when we travel as it will hold a change of clothes and a few toys. (gets his "stuff" out of the diaper bag!) Perfect size for my little man to carry on his back. This backpack would not be a good choice for probably pre-k or kindergarten as it is pretty small and won't hold a folder. Just pay close attention to the dimensions before you decide what to buy!

Great backpack, but way to large
October 15, 2012
My son had the small backpack and it became to small for his belongings, so I order the next size, in which is large. It's a really big backpack, but pottery barn doesn't sell medium. Over all the backpack is very durable.

TINY
September 10, 2012
Ordered the pre-school backpack; while it's adorable, it's teeny tiny. Description says 11.5" tall, but it barely is 10". Disappointing.

TOO SMALL
August 31, 2012
We bought this backpack over the summer during our kindergarten preparations. We chose the small backpack based on the website recommendation. I wish there had been the negative reviews on site before we purchased. The "small" backpack is way too small to hold anything more than a lunchbox. The height of the backpack is too short to hold even a standard sized folder. I had to go back and order the larger backpack to accommodate my child's school supplies. Do not buy the small size backpack for anyone older than preschool.

Useless
August 21, 2012
These are so tiny they are practically useless-almost as useless as pbk's customer service. Save your money! I wish i had read the reviews before I spent ours. What a disappointment!

Nothing fits in it even for Kindergarten. Get the large. The small is a waste of time.

Really small!!!
August 15, 2012
Bought this for my son who is entering Kindergarten to use for school. Very cute but really small. Not at all functional for school folders etc.. Don't think he will be able to use it. Really disappointed after spending the additional $ for personalization.

Not a "preschool backpack"
August 9, 2012
I received my son's preschool backpack today and I was very disappointed with the size. It will not hold a regular size folder, it's only big enough for a snack and maybe a light jacket ...maybe! He is required to have a folder in his backpack for communication purposes and to bring his work home, that will not be possible with this backpack. The material is great, but the size is ridiculous.

Awesome Backpack
August 2, 2012
I bought the Fairfax Red for my Son last school year. He was in 6th grade. Instead of using his locker, he stuffed everything in this backpack and carried it around. This backpack took this abuse and lasted the whole year long. My Husband and I would just shake our heads because we could not talk him into using his locker. I love how I could clip the lunch box on the backpack and free up his hands. I would recommend this backpack to anyone. This year he is going into 7th grade so we bumped up to PBTeen Gear Up Backpack. It is a bit larger than the Fairfax Large. Well made, Quality

THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL BACKPACK!!!!!!
July 31, 2012
The small backpack is nothing more than a bag to pack some overnight clothes in, to go spend the night with grandma!!! My child is starting Pre-k and needed a backpack big enough to hold a 3-ring binder (so the teacher can send home communication papers), a napping sheet (that he can bring home on Fridays to wash), and a snack bag. IT DOES NOT EVEN HOLD A 3-RING BINDER. I CANNOT USE THIS BAG FOR HIS PRE-K. So disappointed!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!!!
