Great Brackets - Not Obtrusive

We bought these a few years ago when they carried the bronze color. They still look great with no scratching where the drape grommets (we have grommet top curtains) slide across the top. We like this style a lot because they are very simple looking and unobtrusive after hanging up the curtains. They keep the rods secure too so the poles don't slide around. It's pretty clear in the item description that you only get the add-on rod (the smaller one that goes closest to the window) so not sure why anyone would complain about not getting 2 rods. The item does lose a star though for the cheapy mounting hardware. This seems to have always been true for all PB stuff so i won't expect anything to change. We'll keep buying for the overall high quality and nice look - and we'll keep buying our own sturdier hardware too.

ONLY the ADD on!!

I bought this since it was on the recommended product list next to the sheers I purchased and it was my mistake for not reading the product description but i thought for the price that it would include the two rods. It did not and was just the back rod for the sheers but since I hadn't purchased the main curtain rod when the delivery came in I was disappointed. My excitement to install the beautiful sheers/curtain dwindled fast as I had to run out and buy another rod... or wait a week and order one from PB which I did not have the patience for.

Screws Snapped

Must be a sign of the times. We've ordered the double add on kits before and installed them in our old home. However, the screws on a few of the kits this go around broke off in the wall because they were too long and not of high quality. The directions did not give the screws dimensions to aid in pre-drilling (which is an absolute must by the way).

Just One Rod

I bought two, but I was really dissappointed when I found out that doesn't come with two rods. You have to buy their other rod, which ended up being a waste of money since you don't have to use the hardware.
This didin't happened at PB. All the double rods came with double rods! Why PBK don't sell them the same way?

We bought this for our boys' room a year or so ago, replacing hardware from a local big box store. It's been sturdy, and the classic look goes well with kids' rooms over time. We came back for the same item for our daughter's room after her big box curtain rods were peeling and falling down repeatedly. This was easy to install and can hold up to kids hanging on the curtains - works as well in a girl's room as in a boy's.

As other reviewers have said, the add on kit does stick out quite a bit from the wall & I was very worried when we first put them up. However, after putting the polka dot sheer & sailcloth curtains on the rods, & adding the butterfly finials, they actually look great & you can't even tell how far out they come from the wall. Plus, I wasn't about to go looking for new double rods w/ a baby on the way very soon! Luckily, these were perfect & I was very happy w/ the result!

Double layer curtain rod

Not pleased with how far the rod sticks out from the wall. I understand it's designed for layering, but 7" is too much.

Double add on kit for curtains

This kit is great in concept but sticks out of the wall too far. I have the old style and tried to match it, but they changed the new style drastically so now I have to buy 2 so they both match. I liked the old style better. It fit closer to the wall and didn't let so much light in.

Good unless you want Blacked Out Room

We got this kit for two of my children's bedrooms. For my son, we bought PBK blackout curtains and a PBK valance. Even though the blackout curtains are hanging closest to the window, the room is not completely blacked out due to the way the hardware sits on the wall.
My daughter's room, I decided to get blackout shades to hang behind the double add on kit that house a regular PBK curtain and valance.
Overall this double add on kit is a great option to get to maximize the "cuteness" of my kid's bedroom windows. I just wish the first rod could hang a little closer to the window for complete blackout. (Also, I read a previous review about hanging sheers behind and the blackout curtains in front. Thank you for posting this. I ended up returning the sheers and doing the valances instead!)

Just be warned that if you have already installed a curtain rod from PBK, you will have to take it down and put it back up with the double rod kit. This means that you may have some holes in your wall that may show through. If you are planning to buy a double rod and a PBK regular rod, WAIT to install them at the same time to avoid this problem. That being said, it is a quality item and is not too difficult to install.

beautiful, but one issue

This is a beautiful piece of hardware, very well constructed and the drapes hang wonderfully together. The only issue is we tried to hang sheers and blackout panels. The blackout panels hang about 4" from the wall, so light comes around the edges and the top. So it's not great if you're trying for a dark room, but the aesthetic effect is beautiful.

Good Quality, But Only One Bar

This add on kit is good quality; however, it only comes with one hanging bar. Therefore, you need to purchase their other rod (at a average cost of $50). And, you don't use the single rod hardware, so it's a waste.

Not very sturdy

Honestly I was dissappointed that this came from Pottery Barn - it was made of plastic and not at all what I'm used to in terms of pottery barn quality. It holds up your curtains but you know how kids like to hang on things and tug - this would not hold up in my house.

Very easy to install

The double add on kit was very easy to install. My only wish is that I didn't have to have the brackets and the screws and the mollies from the single rods and the brackets, screws and mollies from these. There is a lot of wasted hardware. They do work great with the curtain panels and blackout panels.
